Spitzer, a public relations counselor in Utica in the 1950s who served briefly as assistant to former Mayor Frank Dulan, died May 4, 2013, in Easton, MD. He was 88. Born in Buffalo on February 11, 192…5, the third of four sons born to the late Rudolph and Margaret Carney Spitzer, he served three years in the Army during World War II. He later attended St. Peters College. He was director, office of public information, in the former U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare in the 1960s, and corporate vice president for public affairs for Borden, Inc., in the 1970s. He worked as an independent public affairs counselor into the 1990s, serving mostly not for profit clients, including the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation. His column, Keeping Pace, was a regular feature in the Star Democrat and Sunday Star on Marylands Eastern Shore from 1998 until his death. He authored three books and hundreds of articles for journals. Very good. No dust jacket. Signed by author. Inscribed on t-p. Cover has slight wear and soiling.
