Contents and boards are in nice condition, but vellum on either side of spine is cracking and chipping. Vellum is toned. Slipcase is missing the top panel and has splits along two other seams. 4to. Sillhouette graphic of a mounted man quaffing a flagon of spirits, a pipe-smoking gent and a lady holding her cup, surrounded by five tail-wagging hounds. Orange printed label affiixed to front board in the design of the hanging exterior sign of an Inn, stating: "FULL and BY/Being a Collection of Verses by Persons of Quality with Designs to Fit All Humours". Repeated in miniature with a little devil-caricature holding up the sign with his feet, tail swishing. A little smudging and staining to boards, and wear to corners. Front board a wee bit loose, but no separating. Publisher's red topstain; fore-edge and tail untrimmed. Orange and black endpapers featuring a quote from Hamlet, a frolicking Satan, etc. On a preliminary page (with a lovely, multicolored illustration) the and handwritten words, in turquoise ink, : "Property of/ Edw. A. Wilson/Truro, Mass.".
