ASPJ is a professional peer-reviewed journal and the leading forum for airpower thought and dialogue. It is an Air Force Recurring Publication 10-1. ASPJ seeks to foster intellectual discussion and debate among air, space, and cyber power leaders, both domestically and internationally. Even before the founding of the USAF, Air University initiated publication of the Air University Quarterly Review in 1947. Maj. Gen. Muir S. Fairchild established this journal as a professional publication in the highest sense of the word-one that would reflect the best professional thought concerning global concepts and doctrines of air strategy and tactics. Since its inauguration, the journal has appeared under the titles Air University Quarterly Review, Air University Review, Airpower Journal, Aerospace Power Journal, and, currently, Air and Space Power Journal. Since 1947, this periodical has fulfilled its mandate to provide an avenue for professional Airmen to present their original thinking on the subject of airpower. Among the contents are: A Word from the Chairman: Shift to a Global Perspective; Regional Security and Air and Space Power; Enhancing National Security and Air and Space Power; Latin American Countries with Space Programs; Contingency Operations and some book reviews: Hap Arnold's World War II Diaries; Billy Mitchell; Soviet Airwomen in World War II; Presumed First Edition/First Printing thus.

Wraps. Zustand: Very good. 152 pages. Wraps. Notes. Figures. Format is approximately 7 inches by 10 inches. This is the second issue of this prestigious military professional journal. Strategic Studies Quarterly (2007-2021) was a quarterly peer-reviewed academic journal sponsored by the United States Air Force covering issues related to national and international security. Published by Air University Press, the SSQ explored strategic issues of current and continuing interest to the United States Department of Defense and US international partners. New editions were released on the first day of March, June, September, and December. The final issue of the journal was published in 2021, and Air University Press shortly thereafter inaugurated the new journal Æther: A Journal of Strategic Airpower & Spacepower. This issue contains the following Feature Articles: Toward Restructuring National Security by Lt.-Gen. David A. Depula, USAF; Adapt or Die: The US Military's Responsibility to Protect America by Leading the Transformation in Science and Technology by Newt Gingrich with CAPT Ronald E. Weisbrood, USN; Irregular Warfare: One Nature, Many characters by Colin S. Gray; Exploring the Knowledge Nexus: India's Path in Terrorism-Driven Institutional Growth by Chris C. Demchak and Eric Werner; and Divine Victory for Whom? Airpower in the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah War by William M. Arkin. This issue also had an Editorial, Book Reviews, and Letter to the Editor. This issue contains one of the scarcest of Newt Gingrich's national security writings. Newton Leroy Gingrich (née McPherson; born June 17, 1943) is an American politician and author who served as the 50th speaker of the United States House of Representatives from 1995 to 1999. A member of the Republican Party, he was the U.S. representative for Georgia's 6th congressional district serving north Atlanta and nearby areas from 1979 until his resignation in 1999. A professor of history and geography at the University of West Georgia in the 1970s, Gingrich won election to the U.S. House of Representatives in November 1978, the first Republican in the history of Georgia's 6th congressional district to do so. He served as House Minority Whip from 1989 to 1995. A co-author and architect of the "Contract with America", Gingrich was a major leader in the Republican victory in the 1994 congressional election. In 1995, Time named him "Man of the Year" for "his role in ending the four-decades-long Democratic majority in the House". Gingrich has served on several commissions, including the Hart-Rudman Commission, formally known as the U.S. Commission on National Security/21st century, which examined national security issues affecting the armed forces, law enforcement and intelligence agencies. In 2005 he became the co-chair of a task force for UN reform, which aimed to produce a plan for the U.S. to help strengthen the UN. For over two decades, Gingrich has taught at the United States Air Force's Air University, where, as of 2010, he was the longest-serving teacher of the Joint Flag Officer Warfighting Course. In addition, he is an honorary Distinguished Visiting Scholar and Professor at the National Defense University and, as of 2012, was teaching officers from all of the defense services. Gingrich informally advised Defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld on strategic issues, on issues including the Israeli?Palestinian conflict and encouraging the Pentagon to not "yield" foreign policy influence to the State Department and National Security Council. Gingrich is also a guiding coalition member of the Project on National Security Reform. It also contained an important article on Irregular Warfare by Colin S. Gray. Colin S. Gray (December 29, 1943 ? February 27, 2020) was a British-American writer on geopolitics and professor of International Relations and Strategic Studies at the University of Reading, where he was the director of the Centre for Strategic Studies. In addition, he was a Senior Associate to the National Institute for Public Policy. Gray was educated at the University of Manchester and the University of Oxford. He worked at the International Institute for Strategic Studies and the Hudson Institute, before founding the National Institute for Public Policy in Washington, D.C. He also served as a defence adviser both to the British and U.S. governments. Gray served from 1982 until 1987 in the Reagan Administration's General Advisory Committee on Arms Control and Disarmament. He taught at the University of Hull, the University of Lancaster, York University, the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia. Gray published 30 books on military history and strategic studies, as well as numerous articles. Presumed First Edition, First printing this issue.
