El objetivo de este trabajo de investigación es determinar la influencia de la alimentación del lactante y del niño pequeño de 0 a 36 meses y su influencia en el desarrollo psicomotor en el CNH del barrio Carigan del cantón Loja en el año 2016. La investigación fué de tipo cuantitativo de corte transversal; cuyo universo estuvo conformado por 115 niños; para la recolección de la información, se realizó encuestas a las madres o cuidadores y se evaluó el desarrollo psicomotriz aplicando el test de Denver II. Obteniéndose como resultados: que las dos terceras partes de los niños (77 %) tuvieron un inicio temprano de lactancia materna; el 70% recibieron lactancia materna exclusiva.
