Not signed but a small label tipped in to the front pastedown advertises Van Butchell's address and opening times (27 Baker Street, Portman Square. May be consulted daily (except Sundays) from 10 till 2 o'clock and at any hour by appointment.) A rare book on the treatment of piles, fistula, warts etc, of whch the author writes in his introduction "in the wide circle of suffering which humanity is heir to, there is, perhaps, no class of diseases more painful and distressing in effect, or more frequent and common of occurrence, than those which form the topic of the present short treatise." The author also describes some of his cases to illustrate treatment and success. Condition: The cloth is faded to the spine and to the top of each board as can be seen in the pictures. The text is complete but the inner binding starting to pull. The pages clean but tanned, and some pages uncut (ie unopened).
