Première édition donnée par Jacques Sacon du célèbre Catalogus sanctorum de l'hagiographe vénitien Petrus de Natalibus (vers 1330-1406), paru pour la première fois à Venise en 1493, constituant l'une des trois grandes premières vies des saints (avec la Légende dorée et la Vie des Saints Pères). L'ouvrage, composé entre 1369 et 1372, renferme la vie de nombreux personnages de l'Ancien et du Nouveau Testament, celle des écrivains ecclésiastiques et des empereurs qui ont favorisé le christianisme, de héros légendaires et d'un grand nombre de martyrs. German Dominican friar, Buchardus de Monte Sion traveled to the Middle East between 1274 and 1284, being one of the last pilgrims to travel to the Holy Land and write a full report before the fall of the Latin Kingdom in 1291. He visited Palestine, the principality of Antioch, the Armenian Kingdom of Cilicia, and Egypt. His work is described as being of "extraordinary importance", "the most detailed account to have come down to us from the thirteenth century" and "in a class of its own among the many mediaeval descriptions of the Holy Land." Burchardus, Burcardo de Worms o Burkhard von Worn (ha. 965 - Worms, Alemania, 1025), probablemente de origen belga, se formó en la abadía de Lobbes y fue nombrado obispo de Worm por Otón III en el año 1000. Para mejorar la vida eclesiástica, hizo una compilación de veinte libros de derecho eclesiástico bajo el título de Decretorum Libri XX, que es la obra que ofrecemos, y que se considera la recopilación más importante de derecho canónico hasta decreto de Graciano, en el siglo II. Entre estos decretos s encuentra un reglamento para la corte obispal, que fue el primero de este tipo. En una reseña sobre este autor se dice que el libro XIX, denominado Corrector seu medicus, habla de pócimas abortivas, del mal de ojo y la impotencia inducida mágicamente como hechos comprobados, pero considera fantasías otras cuestiones como la transformación en animales o el sexo con demonios. La mujer es considerada la base de todos los pecados. Menciona también prácticas similares a las del vudú con los zombis. Leandro Martínez Peñas, en un artículo sobre brujería y herejía en relación a la Inquisición medieval dice: La versión contenida en el Corrector (el capítulo XIX) es de especial relevancia para la cuestión tratada en este texto, puesto que incluye por vez primera en una obra legislativa vínculos entre la práctica de la brujería y la herejía, conectando a ambas a través de la acción del diablo".
