Mai 1934 ist die zentrale theologische Äußerung der Bekennenden Kirche unter der nationalsozialistischen Herrschaft 1933-1945. Sie richtete sich gegen die falsche Theologie und das Kirchenregime der so genannten "Deutschen Christen", die damit begonnen hatten, die evangelische Kirche der Diktatur des "Führers" anzugleichen. Die Barmer Theologische Erklärung (abgekürzt BTE; auch Barmer Bekenntnis, Barmer Erklärung, Barmer Thesen oder kurz Barmen nach dem Wuppertaler Stadtteil, wo sie beschlossen wurde; originaler Langtitel: "Theologische Erklärung zur gegenwärtigen Lage der Deutschen Evangelischen Kirche (DEK)") war das theologische Fundament der Bekennenden Kirche (BK) in der Zeit des Nationalsozialismus. Ihr Hauptautor war der reformierte Theologe Karl Barth, Mitautoren waren die lutherischen Theologen Thomas Breit und Hans Asmussen. Die Barmer Bekenntnissynode nahm den mehrfach überarbeiteten Text am 31. Mai 1934 als verbindliches Bekenntnis aller lutherischen, reformierten und unierten Mitgliedskirchen der DEK an. Entscheidender Kernsatz ist die Aussage: Jesus Christus allein sei das eine Wort Gottes, darum hätten Christen ihm allein und keinen anderen Mächten ihrer Gegenwart zu vertrauen und zu gehorchen. Under what conditions do such cooperative processes occur What perceptions of social relevance and what sorts of col laborations with non-scientific groups are involved How is this collaboration achieved, and through what forums How can insights into its conditions and mechanisms stabilize such cooperations over a longer period of time If they are stabilized, do they really affect science, or do they mainly function to shield the rest of the science system against external influences These questions are pertinent both to intellectual problems in the sociology of science and to the practical concerns of modern science policies.
