The full-color plates presented in this book are astonishing for two reasons; on the one hand it is amazing at least to me that someone painted with such extravagant use of colors back in the Medieval Ages and secondly that the plates have survived all these years! Please find then: "Medieval Pageant" by Bryan Holmes who founded Studio Books while working with Viking and with an Introduction by Timothy Husband. This large but relatively slender hard cover book (9 ? x 12 ? inches 104 pages) was published by Thames and Hudson of New York dated 1987 and the First American Edition. The book is very well illustrated with 77 full-color reproductions of paintings of the Medieval era. The book is bound in sea blue cloth with the Thames and Hudson motif on the cover and gilt titles on the spine; it is protected by a glossy pictorial dust jacket. It is inscribed by Holme to Alfred Eisenstaedt on the half-title page. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The dust jacket is clean and bright with some very slight scuffing to the high gloss. There is a band of light tan spotting along the top inside edge of the dust jacket possibly from tobacco smoke but no remaining scent. The hard covers are clean, bright and handsome. Inside the book is unmarked except for the author?s inscription. The interior pages and plates are clean and bright and very presentable throughout.
