Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Growing up in Washington, D.C., Steve Brown dreamed of competing on the world's biggest stage. What followed was a journey marked by setbacks that would have convinced most people to quit. He missed Olympic teams by fractions of a second. He trained with limited resources. He balanced athleti…cs with academics, professional football, teaching, and business school opportunities. Time after time, his dreams seemed just out of reach. Yet every obstacle became fuel for the next attempt. In this inspiring memoir, Dr. Steve Brown takes readers behind the headlines and into the reality of elite competition, revealing the resilience, faith, and determination required to pursue a dream over multiple Olympic cycles. From the classrooms of Wake Forest University to the NFL, from heartbreaking defeats to the unforgettable moment of walking into Olympic Stadium in Sydney, his story is a powerful testament to perseverance in the face of adversity. Filled with lessons on leadership, discipline, personal growth, and the courage to keep moving forward when success seems impossible, this book is for athletes, entrepreneurs, students, and anyone pursuing a goal that feels just beyond their reach. Through his journey from Washington, D.C., to the Olympic stage, Dr. Brown's message remains clear: failure is not the opposite of success. It is the data that makes success possible. If you've ever wondered whether one more attempt is worth it, this story provides the answer. The dream belongs to those who refuse to stop chasing it. Dr. Stephen A. Brown is an Olympian, educator, leadership strategist, and founder of the Steve Brown Academy, an organization dedicated to developing student-athletes and leaders through academics, athletics, character, and service. Raised in Washington, D.C., Brown earned a mathematics degree from Wake Forest University, where he competed as a two-sport NCAA athlete in football and track & field before pursuing professional football and eventually representing Trinidad and Tobago in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia. Following his athletic career, Brown devoted more than two decades to education, coaching, leadership development, and mentorship while earning an MBA from Duke University and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education.
