Book is printed on heavy untrimmed paper; tipped-in plates are on heavy boards. Title in gilt on spine. Wear along spine, with two pieces of clear tape across width at the top (the book's only flaws; interior pages are Fine). Inset decorative border on front panel, also a tiny nick in the leather. Top edge gilt. All plates present. Tissue guards intact. Among the ephemera: a letter, photos, postcards, and clippings amplifying the plates collected in the book. There is also a full-page two-color plate from Punch, "A Lover of the Order," and an original 6"x8" photogravure portrait of Major-General T.C.P. Calley, signed by Lafayette, a photographer active in Dublin and London from 1880-1962, with two blindstamp insignia at bottom edge of the sheet. Calley (1856-1932) joined the 1st Life Guards in 1876. and later was appointed commander. 4to. Heavy for international shipping--packed weight is eight pounds.
