Cloth & Decorative Boards. Zustand: Fine. 1st Conway Edition. Hardback. The British Home Guard Pocket Book 1942. Introduction by Brian Lavery. Beige cloth with Brown and black lettering and black decoration. This book reveals the true wartime Home Guard. Written by Brig.-Gen Aurthur Frank Umfreville Green, commanding the 4th battalion, Sussex Home Guard, and Training Sdvisor for the Sussex Zone, this authentic manual is based on his won experience and army training. The tone is informal and colloquial, yet the book is full of sound advice on training, organisation and discipline, firearms, reconnaissance, and field engineering; the responsobilities of the Group Pigeon Officer, the proper position to adopt for surviving a dive-bomb attack, and, most importantly, how to set a trap for an unway advancing German cyclist! An introduction by Brian Lavery provides an interesting overview of the Home Guard as well as a biography of the pocket-book's author. Illustrations. 160 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).…
