Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Julian Sorrento has written a New Yorker article about selflessness and altruism. In it, he portrays himself as an exploited victim of his large, dysfunctional family and a savior to the homeless youth he serves as their social worker. Following the article's publication, Julian's family comes after him with a righteous fury. They claim he has exaggerated and distorted facts, making them the villains. His agent encourages him to expand the article into a book. As Julian meets with each member of his family to hear their grievances, he also seeks-or sometimes makes up whole cloth-additional damning secrets about them to include in his memoir.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - Inexplicably, William S. Burroughs has not been embraced by the LGBTQI community as one of our own, even though his queerness was central to his life and work. Fever Spores: The Queer Reclamation of William S. Burroughs serves as an appreciation and reclamation project. We seek to bring Burroughs into the gay literary canon. Editors Brian Alessandro, co-author of Edmund White's A Boy's Own Story graphic novel, and Tom Cardamone, author of the Lambda Award-winning speculative fiction novel Green Thumb, have compiled interviews and essays featuring emerging and established writers, filmmakers, musicians, artists, and critics, including Blondie founders and musicians Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, cultural critic and author Fran Lebowitz, Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winner Tony Kushner (Angels in America), filmmaker David Cronenberg (The Fly, Dead Ringers, A History of Violence, Naked Lunch), multiple Hugo-Nebula Award-winning science fiction writer Samuel R. Delany (The Mad Man, Nova, Babel-17), National Book Award-winner Edmund White, PUNK magazine founder and former SPIN and NERVE editor, Legs McNeil, Gregory Woods (A History of Gay Literature), Paul Russell (The Unreal Life of Sergey Nabokov), Charlie Vázquez (Dreaming Out Loud: Voices of Undocumented Writers), and Burroughs's bibliographer and literary executor, James Grauerholz, among many others. Some offer critical assessments of Burroughs, while others share personal experiences.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This is the eighth year that the Agent-Oriented Information Systems (AOIS) workshops have been held. Papers submitted to AOIS show an increase in quality and maturity as agent technology is being increasingly seen as a viable alternative for software and systems development. In AOIS, we focus on the application of agent technology in information systems development and explore the potential for facilitating the increased usage of agent technology in the creation of information systems in the widest sense. This year's workshops were held in conjunction with two major, international computing research conferences: the first, in May 2006, was affiliated with the AAMAS conference in Hakadote, Japan and chaired by Garcia, Ghose and Kolp. The second was held in conjunction with the international CAiSE conference held in Luxembourg (June 2006) and chaired by Bresciani, Henderson-Sellers and Mouratidis. (Details of all preceding workshops are to be found at aois. org. ) The best papers from both these meetings were identified and authors invited to revise and extend their papers in light of the reviewers' comments and feedback at the workshop. Following submission to this compendium volume, another round of reviews was undertaken resulting in what you can read here. These re-reviews were undertaken by three members of the Programme Committee - we wish to thank both the authors for undertaking the necessary revisions and the reviewers for this extra call on their precious time.
