In den WarenkorbFirst hardback edition of Nesbit's first novel, co-authored by her husband. Written shortly after she joined the Fabian Society, the novel is about the early days of the socialist movement. It "is indirectly informative about the Blands' current concerns and attitudes. Writing under pressure, they increasingly found themselves d…rawing upon their own experiences in creating character and situation" (Briggs, p. 71). One of the characters was inspired by the anarchist Peter Kropotkin (Fitzsimons, p. 72). It was first published in 1885 in wrappers and was also published in 1889 in the US as part of Belford, Clarke, & Company's Household Library series. Julia Briggs, A Woman of Passion: The Life of E. Original brown cloth over bevelled boards, spine and front cover lettered in gilt and brown, front cover with yellow cloth onlay, brown coated endpapers, top edge uncut. Cloth soiled and toned, a little loss to spine ends, corners worn, inner hinges split but holding firm, contents clean: a very good copy.
