Proposed several specific measures that could be considered as future course of action plan for making it compatible enough with other major national libraries ofthe world. The lack of any nationwide detail study of manpower planning together with continuous stagnation in library science education, training and research without any measures for qualitative improvement are being highlighted. Justified why transformation of university libraries, public library service network , crucial future role of RRRLF, and a consortium approach in developing the National Digital Library of India required to be given the highest priorities.
