Pokus o utek se zdaril pouze castecne , z tabora zmizelo 76 vojaku .Pak Nemci objevili vychod z tunelu , nebot chybou vypoctu vyustil ve volnem terenu , kus za plotem. Mezi uspesnymi letci , kterym se pokus zdaril byli i tri Cesi , Arnost Valenta , Bedrich Dvorak a Ivo Tonder. Po nejake dobe byli takrka vsichni utekari pochytani , do Britanie se dostali jen tri z nich. Nemecke veleni bylo vzteky bez sebe a Adolf Hitler naridil pro vystrahu 50 letcu popravit . Jednim ze zavrazdenych byl i Arnost Valenta.Dva zbyli Cesi se dozili konce valky . Po valce se konal soud z nemeckymi vrahy a mnoho jich bylo odsouzeno k trestu smrti. Kniha je velmi poutave napsana a zajimavy text je doplnen mnoha fotografiemi.
