Somewhat uncommon and very well-illustrated account of a journey across Siberia, Russia and Turkey, made in the immediate aftermath of WW1 and the Russian Revolution under the auspices of the American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief. Beury, a West Virginia-born banker and philanthropist, would later serve as Temple University's second President (1925-41). Includes Beury's interpretation of the ascendance of the Bolsheviks, ".not the narrative of detailed happenings so much as the record of the movement as a whole, without an adequate understanding of which no one can justly appreciate Russia in transition.".
