An immersive travel work on Saudi Arabia, noting the author's experiences travelling through the country. This work recounts the author's journey as he became the first documented Westerner to cross the Rub' al Khali. The Rub' al Khali is a large sand desert which encompasses most of the southern third of the Arabian Peninsula. Written by Bertram Thomas, an English diplomat and explorer. With a foreword by Thomas Edward Lawrence, a British Army officer, archaeologist, diplomat and writer known for his role during the Arab Revolt and Sinai and Palestine campaign. His activities associations, and ability to describe them vividly in writing, earned him international fame as Lawrence of Arabia. An appendix by Sir Arthur Keith, a British anatomist and anthropologist. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing and bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and minor age toning to the endpapers. Very Good. book.
