Verso of front cover has an ink inscription presenting this volume on behalf of a Georgia genealogic…al society to an unnamed recipient; the inscription has been cancelled with a large "X" (although the inscription is clear and legible), spine has one-inch bumped tear at top edge, a very good or better copy. A detailed history of The Sweetwater Baptist Church, an African-American church which was founded in Edgeville County, South Carolina, in 1832, as "Sweetwater Alias Mount Lebanon." Traces the history of the Church from its beginning in 1832 to the rebuilding of the church within eyesight of the original log building, with detailed information about the congregation and the church activities over one hundred fifty years. A scarce publication. *OCLC* lists only four copies.
