Author Béat Fidèle Antoine Jean Dominique de La Tour-Châtillon de Zurlauben was a distinguished soldier in the French army. Upon leaving the army, he retired to his country house near Zug, and began work on his history of Switzerland. Rebacked, with original calf boards restored, and a morocco back strip. Retaining the original endpapers. Externally, extensively rubbed, with losses to leather at spine, joints, and board perimeters. Bumping to fore edge of boards. Joint heads starting, with extensive rubbing and losses to the leather in these regions, but boards generally firmly held. Hinges reinforced. Internally, generally firmly bound, with half title detached and loosely inserted. Pages generally clean and bright, with the odd spot, and handling marks to page perimeters. Good Only. book.
