Tan cloth with black, brown and gilt letters on the front cover and gilt letters on the spine and with a vignette in gilt, brown and black of a wolf running to the right trailing a ribbon with the word "Starvation" on it set against a background of sun with shining rays. Cartouche in lower right corner of front cover of braided leaves with "Mark Twain" in the center. Very minor wear to extremities with nothing rubbed through, top and bottom of spine somewhat tender, spine slightly darkened, all gilt bright, some evidence of silverfish grazing on the covers, frontispiece in fine condition, tissue guard intact, fingernail sized stain on front free pastedown and endpaper, else very good to near fine with no internal markings. No dust jacket.
