She mentions an arrangement to show a couple of chapters of her book to the publisher Hilary Rubenstein and also mentions Oxford. He discusses her writing, her plot the 'surprising bits' and several of the charcters in some detail, sex scenes, pregnancy, suicide etc., He writes that he cannot understand why she is not better known-- blaming the publisher. He aslo mentions the succes of Vikram Seth's 1000 page novel 'A Suitable Boy' and Seth's poetry. He ends by saying he will be sending a copy of his new novel 'Marriage Beyond Redemption' and signs off 'with love Stanley'.
