Zustand: Good. Most items will be dispatched the same or the next working day. A copy that has been read but remains in clean condition. All of the pages are intact and the cover is intact and the spine may show signs of wear. The book may have minor markings which are not specifically mentioned. A good condition incomplete set. Volumes 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 only. No dust jackets and green cloth boards with bright gold gilding to the front covers. All are in similar decent and uniform condition except volume 8, which shows heavy rubbing and loss to the black spine label. The other volumes show very mild rubbing. Volume 8's textblock edges are foxed, with the other volumes showing very light and occasional speckles. Volume 8 shows the most sunbleaching to the spine. The contents of all 5 volumes show most of their age on the endpapers and are otherwise clear and bright, with glossy pages and very few signs of handling. The bindings are firm overall, with a shallow crack towards the end of volume 7. Pages are handsome with decorative bordering and a nice selection of illustrations throughout, with well over 500, often over 1000 in each volume. A decent, Good condition beginning to a potential full set.
