This is no 57 of the privately printed opuscula issued to members of the Sette of Odd Volumes. This no 42 of limited edition of 153 copies. Presented to Sir William L Young, Bart and signed by J B Wainewright. W Wilsey Martin by John B. Wainwright. Ye Sette of Odd Volumes was a London-based eccentric, scholarly dining club. It was formed in 1878 by Bernard Quaritch, and functioned continuously until around 1940. Members were notable men with a wide range of interests and each gathering was addressed by a member on some, usually arcane, subject.Each member had a club name ÔChroniclerÕ SalopianÕ ÕHorologerÕÕExaggerator Õetc., Slightly edgewear otherwise clean VG.
