Hardcover. Zustand: Near Fine. No Jacket. 1st Edition. HAMPSHIRE BY REV. TELFORD VARLEY PAINTED BY WILFRID BALL 1907 1ST 75 COLOR PLATES. Here is another of Black s Beautiful Books, this one titled: Hampshire described by the Rev. Telford Varley and painted by Wilfrid Ball. This medium-sized hard cover book (6 ¾ x 9 x 2 inches, 316 pages plus a fold-out map and 8 pages of publisher s adverts) was published by Adam & Charles Black of London dated 1907 and the First Edition. The book is bound in green boards with a pink (Roses) flower pattern at the center of the decorations and light green decorations, with gilt titles on the spine. It is handsomely illustrated with a captioned (some captions quite fulsome) and tissue-guarded Frontispiece and 74 more similar color plates. There is a fold-out map of Hampshire at the rear of the book. Condition: This book is in near fine condition. The hard covers are clean and bright, with a small brown dot on the spine and a light inked line across mid-cover (not too visible). Inside the former owners have left their bookplate on the front endpaper and someone has checked off in light pencil many of the titles in publisher s advert pages. Those are the only marks I found in the book which is otherwise clean and bright throughout, without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder. Language: ENG.
