A work originally published in 1834, aimed at the majority who have not had the opportunity to learn the manners of contemporary society, with hints on etiquette of subjects such as: marriage, dinners, smoking, snuff, fashion, dress, music and dancing. It was the basis for a couple of the 'amusing' reprints of the 1960s. "At family dinners, where the common household bread is used, it should never be cut less than an inch and a half thick. There is nothing more plebeian than thin bread at dinner." 15 cms tall Small 8vo.
