Hardcover. Zustand: Good. See photos for condition details. Hardcover, blue cloth boards decorated in red blue and silver. Exterior shows handling wear, with light soiling and scuffing. Edges and corners show bumps/wear. The internal binding is good for the text pages but hinges show cracks at front and rear boards. Pages are toned due to age and some very light spotting and smudge marks are present. No signatures or bookplates, no library markings, no handwriting. Front pastedown and first end page both show a bit of loss to the shine of the paper in the upper right corners. This may be from a price tag being removed or possibly somebody erased a price.

Zustand: Good. - An approximately 1-3/4 inch high by 3-1/2 inch wide cream-colored card is signed "F. Marion Crawford". There is some very minor soiling to the card. On the verso some unrelated ink writing is partially covered up by a glue-stained piece of paper & 2 pieces of tape where the card has been removed from an album. Good, Francis Marion Crawford [1854-1909] was an American writer known for his many novels, especially those set in Italy, and for his weird and fantastic stories. Several of these stories, such as "The Upper Berth, "For the Blood Is the Life", The Dead Smile" and "The Screaming Skull" are frequently anthologized classics of the horror genre. A current definitive edition of the weird stories was edited by Richard Dalby as "Uncanny Tales" and was published by the Tartarus Press [1997; 2008].
Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. 1st Edition. These are excellent detailed steps and recommendations with color photos. So I see the distinction is Creole is City and Cajun is Country. These are less precise than say a gumbo Creole style or a jambalaya in the pot of a ruver shack owner.

Zustand: Very good. February 14, [1967]., [1967]. Very good. - Over 670 words penned on both sides of two 10 inch high by 8 inch wide sheets of ruled paper. The Vermont author begins his letter addressed to his Aunt Elise and Uncle Reg by writing about the weather "Yesterday the temperature in N. Creek was 40 below zero. It was a wet penetrating cold." He writes of coaching high school basketball and looks forward to Spring vacation when he'd "like to fish the Parks, and maybe the Chichester stream." He writes of reading stories to his classes and taking the senior class to Washington. Mosher only briefly mentions the book he is writing "You asked me to send you occasional progress reports on my writing. Although I've never been busier, my novel is coming well. I think that it will be ready for a last revision by June when school is over." He and his wife are planning to spend the summer in northern Vermont where he has "been offered the position of chairman of the Engl. dept. at the New Union high School near Orleans, and where Phyllis will teach biology." He's investigating the "possibilities of taking all the high school students to Expo 67 this Spring". He makes several more references to fishing, which he loves. Signed "Howard Frank". Folded once horizontally, there is a very short tear to one edge of the fold on the second sheet. The word "save" is penned at the top of the first page. Very good. The American author Howard Frank Mosher (1942-2017) taught English at Orleans High and Lake Region Union High School in his early years. He went on to write 11 books of fiction and 2 non-fiction books, with most of his works set in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont portraying the quirky taciturn characters of the region as they struggle with changing times.
