Image measures 12" x 17 1/8" This fantastic bird's-eye view printed in 1730 of the island of Malta was drawn to depict the shipwreck of St. Paul, which was believed to have occurred around 60 A.D. according to biblical sources (Acts 27-28). The island is viewed from the northeast, with the city of Valetta depicted with fortifications. Thirty three numbered sites correspond to a list in the upper right corner.
