Kirchherr had been engaged to Stuart Sutcliffe, the original bass player of the Beatles, who died in Hamburg. Voormann, a musician and artist, lived with Ringo Starr and George Harrison, designing the cover of the Beatles' album Revolver. Two vols. Quartos. Original quarter bound rich italian cloth boards with lithographs to front and back covers, titles to spine of Hamburg Days in white. Both housed in a lithographed solander box with metal name plate to lid. Photographs by Kirchherr, drawings, watercolours, paintings and pastels by Voormann. All in fine condition.

Bound in full blind-stamped black morocco, in a presentation solander box, with a silver gelatin print of George Harrison, signed by Kichherr on the reverse, presented within a ribbon-tied portfolio. Illustrated with Astrid's unparalleled photographs of sixties culture; at the time this was the largest format book produced by Genesis, with eleven of the images included as giant folding plates, and a pair of white cotton gloves were supplied to handle the book (included). A fine, as new copy, still in the original box, with an envelope containing the original prospectus, order form, invoice, and letters from Genesis Publications on purchase. The Beatles first visited Hamburg in 1960. Then and during subsequent visits to the city, as a resident act at the Kaiserkelle, the band learned their craft as musicians and performers and met with Astrid Kirchherr (born 1938), a budding photographer who quickly became close friends with them. Later, Astrid became engaged to The Beatles' original bass-player, Stuart Sutcliffe (1940-1962).

Both volumes profusely illustrated on 200gsm matt art paper, and SIGNED by Kirchherr and Scheler, both being number 1026 of 2500 copies of each title. Both titles hand-bound in buckram and housed in a sturdy, two-colour silk-screened slipcase, each with a photographic print inset onto the front cover (Golden Dreams featuring the 'Group' option). This set is additionally housed in a black and white photographic paper-covered slipcase, produced exclusively by the publishers for purchasers of both titles. Rare thus. Fine, as-new copies, still in the original card mailer. Liverpool Days is an extraordinary collection of unpublished photographs showing The Beatles relaxing at home and around the set of A Hard Day's Night. It contrasts their new found fame with life in Liverpool in and around The Cavern Club and their homes and the streets and haunts where they and countless other hopefuls spent their youth. Golden Dreams is a photographic journey accompanying The Beatles during the filming of A Hard Day's Night in Liverpool, 1964. Housed in the white slipcase used only for the 100 preview copies, which has some dustiness and marking and a short split to the top edge. Also included are a vintage Beatles 'gingerbread topper' and commemorative stamp sheets. Signed by Tony Sheridan, Gunter Zint and Ulf Kruger on the limitation page. An homage to The Beatles' relationship with Germany, from their club residency in Hamburg as an unknown band in 1960 to a national tour and John's film work in 1966, executed with Genesis Publications' usual flair for design.
