Dolnets wurden in Jambhari und Dabhol in Ratnagiri betrieben. In Jambhari gab es zwei Arten von Netzen, nämlich Moskito-Netze und Sajachi-Netze. Die Dol-Netze bestanden aus drei Hauptteilen, nämlich dem Mund, dem Bauch und dem Kabeljau-Endteil. Das Dol-Netz als Fanggerät ist so effizient, dass es nicht nur in Bodennähe, sondern auch in der Mitte der Wassersäule bis zu einigen Faden unter der Wasseroberfläche eingesetzt werden kann, um Fische zu fangen. Es ist erstaunlich, dass die ungebildeten Fischer seit der Zeit ihrer Vorväter diese Techniken selbst perfektioniert haben, indem sie die natürlichen Kräfte wie Wellen, Gezeiten und Strömungen nutzten, und zwar ohne das unterrichtete Wissen über Physik oder Meerestechnik usw. Im Vergleich zu anderen universellen passiven Fanggeräten wie dem Kiemennetz ist das Dol-Netz auf bestimmte Gebiete beschränkt und in seiner Genialität einzigartig; es ist ein nicht selektives, ortsspezifisches Fanggerät, dessen Ursprung in der Antike liegt.
