"Through a student initiative, three Frankfurt synagogues destroyed in the 1938 Reichspogromnacht (known as Reichskristallnacht or the "Night of Broken Glass") were computerreconstructed in the spring of 1995 by students of the Department Computer Aided Design (CAD) in Architecture at the Darmstadt University of Technology. The reconstruction of these buildings, resulting from studies of the Nazi period was to serve as an admonishment as well as a memorial. At the same time, the historical achitectural importance of the buildings was to be called to mind. Encouraged by the very positive response to the initial project, the decision was made to expand in to include computer reconstruction of 15 other well-known German synagogues. The goal, beyond the political aspect, was to create a representative overview and interior impression of the diverse synagogue architecture that, prior to its destruction, existed in Germany." from introductory matter. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. 2006 book presented by the MIT List Visual Arts Center regarding the legendary series of performances from 13 23 October 1966, where artists and engineers from Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, New Jersey collaborated on what was to be the first event in a series of projects that would become known as E.A.T or Experiments in Art and Technology. Superb copy, with some light creasing to the thing paper dustjacket at the top and bottom edges. Some light rubbing along the spine edges of the DJ as well. Now preserved in custom cut mylar. Under the jacket, the book is in immaculate condition, with a bright crisp interior and solid, firm binding.
