Basis for the 1944 Leslie Fenton directed film starring Fredric March and Betty Field. Several of the play's cast appeared in the movie inc Edit Angold and Skip Homeier. Signed presentation from James Gow and Arnaud D'Usseau on the front endpaper, "For Dorothy, James Gow and Arnaud D'Usseau." Dorothy = Dorothy Sands who played Jessie Frame in the play. The cover of the jacket shows a young boy performing a Nazi salute. An important and far-seeing play - a sensation in its time. Very good in slightly used and nicked, near very good dust jacket. Newspapers cutting advertisement for the play pasted on the front endpaper with some browning from the tape around it. Signedes.
