Né à Pignan dans l'Hérault, Thomas Arbousset (1810-1877) se convertit au contact d'un voisin aveugle auquel il faisait la lecture de la Bible, de récits missionnaires et d'histoires des persécutions endurés par leurs ancêtres huguenots. C'est à l'occasion de ces lectures qu'il décida de devenir missionnaire. La Société des missions évangéliques l'envoya au Lesotho où il séjourna vingt-sept ans. Quelques rousseurs.
