FIRST EDITION 1931, small format, 160 x 120 mm, 6½ x 4½ inches, buff boards with large colour plate onlaid (a boy runs away from a large dog, clutching a rabbit), repeated inside, spine plain, line illustrated endpapers, coloured frontispiece and 3 pretty colour plates, black and white vignette to title page, black and white drawings in the text, 56 pages. Tiny splits at top and bottom of hinges, tiny graze to edge of onlaid plate, free endpapers faintly browned, small piece missing at edge of rear pastedown causing a light mark to free endpaper. A very good clean tight copy of an uncommon Appleton title, possibly often thrown away as parents did not want their children to try to dye their baby brother or sister.
