The tenth thousand printing, published in 1887, first published in 1862. Inspired by her experience staying with an old lady who baked her apple and gooseberry puddings.- Choice Cookery. The fourth edition, published in 1888, first published as Domestic Cookery in 1886. A practical guide, offering more economical recipes, often referencing gas cooking.- Soups, Savouries, Sweets, with a Chapter on Breads, written by Helen B. Taylor under the pseudonym 'A Practical Housewife'. The first edition. A recipe book hoping to spare the already difficult tasks of a housewife.- The Modern Cookery Book: Containing 500 Practical and Favourite Recipes, written by Mrs. G. Anton. The revised edition, originally published to aid the Midland Temperance League. Contains publisher's original advertisements to the front. In the publisher's original cloth. Externally, marks to boards and edgewear, with bumping to the heads and tails of the spines, and to the extremities. Slight rubbing to joints, heavier to Pudding and Choice. Fading to boards of Soups and Modern, heavier to Pudding, with patches also to rear board extremities. Brown spots to Pudding front board. End papers of Modern are bright and clean with pencil inscriptions to rear free end paper, with offsetting to end papers of Soups with spotting and signs of browning to Pudding and Choice end papers. Wear to front end paper hinges of Choice and Pudding, heavier to Pudding which is delicate. Previous owner's bookplate to Choice front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound, with slight wear to hinge between leaves pp.32-33, 48-49, 64-65 of Pudding. Pages are generally bright and clean, with mild age toning, mostly to Choice and Bread extremities, and the odd spot, lighter to Modern and Choice. Good. book.
