A boy, Kami, is in trouble with the law and a carver tells him to get in touch with the past culture of his people so he might understand more about himself and the past. He has a dream in which carvings come alive and take him back to the Sepik and back in time to the days of head-hunters. Through this dream he gains knowledge of his past and decides to return to Amboin when he grows up to establish a cultural centre there so that many carvings and cultural items might be saved for his people.
