Hardcover. Zustand: Good. 1st Edition. First edition. Small squarish 8vo. No. 16 in the Gerlachs Jugendbücherei. "Mauskäfer" endpapers. Illustrations ("Bilder") by Rudolf Sieck. Illustrations, in keeping with the theme of the book, are of vegetation, in detail and as scenery. Sieck (1877-1957), a German, was primarily a landscape painter. This was the only one of the series that he illustrated. There is no common name in English for the Mauskäfer (Dermestes murinus), so called in Latin and German for its mouse-gray color. Why such an unappealing beetle was loved by the Gerlach designers is anybody's guess.

Zustand: Good. Most items will be dispatched the same or the next working day. A copy that has been read but remains in clean condition. All of the pages are intact and the cover is intact and the spine may show signs of wear. The book may have minor markings which are not specifically mentioned. A good condition book. Light signs of handling and otherwise clear and bright.
