Nun lässt sie die Betrachter auch in den Genuss einer weiter gefassten Abstraktion kommen, fügt ihrem explosiv humanen Ausdruck Momente freier Beobachtbarkeit hinzu, die ihre Aussagekraft komplettieren und fast hat man das Gefühl, das wäre folgerichtig sie weitergebracht haben. Wahrscheinlich schreibt deshalb Michael Schober im Kunstforum International (Jan./Feb. 2011) davon, es ginge nicht darum, »dass sich scheinbar amorphe Pinselbewegungen zum identifizierbaren Gegenstand formieren. Und auch nicht darum, auf Cecily Browns Malerei wie auf ein Suchspiel zu reagieren. Sondern darum, diese Bilder als das zu erkennen, was sie sind.
