Vol.1. xv + 352 +vi (Volume index), 11 col. plates, 74 black & white plates, all ex-pagination, a few text figs, one unf., some plates with tissue guards; fr. end-paper heraldic, but quite simple, Ex.Lib label captioned 'Theron' and sm. designer's (?) name 'Delvers' at bottom, this also in Vol.2, have been unable to match blazon on web, otherwise clean, tight and internally unmarked, light tanning flecks to text-block edges and a black mark across part of bottom fore-edge extending inwards at most to o.5 cm. Vol.2, xii +351 - 636 + iv (Volume index), plate numbering continues to 221, though some to more than one image, of which 19 are coloured, all ex-pagination, occ. un-numbered text fig.; condition identical to Vol.1 though sl. tanning to top corner final page. The author was General Manager of De Beers Mining Company. Am unclear whether a jacket was issued, one listing has one but seller suggests it was made specifically for that book. 19 cm x 25.5 cm, height 10.5 cm.
