In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Good. Alfred Wainwright's series of Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells are a legendary publishing achievement. Hand-written and initially self-published they have sold over a million copies and have introduced countless thousands to the pleasures and rewards of fell walking. Here Hunter Davies selects 18 favourite fells from the Pictorial Guides, introducing each with an anecdote or memory of Wainwright and an account of how the fell came to be chosen. This is the ideal book for a first-time visitor or walker, and it will reintroduce those already familiar with the series to forgotten pleasures, treasures and stories. The book has been read but remains in clean condition. All pages are intact and the cover is intact. Some minor wear to the spine.

In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. This is a new edition of the classic photographic book containing the walk A. Wainwright devised in 1973, covering rights of way and areas of open access between the Irish sea and the North Sea. The route starts at St Bees Head and finishes at Robin Hood Bay, passing through three National Parks: the Lake District, the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, all areas of outstanding beauty. Providing a wide and varied range of scenery with changing landscapes over a distance of 190 miles, it is one of the most challenging of long-distance walks. The text has been updated to take account of minor changes in the terrain and the result is not merely the most beautiful but also the most authoritative and useful book on the much loved Coast to Coast walk. For this new edition, many of the photographs have been retaken by the legendary lakeland photographer, Derry Brabbs. The result is the transformation of an already fine book into something spectacular. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. When is a pass not a pass? The author reckons the essential requirement of a mountain pass is that it must permit access from either side, allowing a crossing from one valley to the next. In this book, Wainwright describes 48 such passes in the Lake District, seven of which are traversed by roads and the rest for walkers. It is the fourth book he has done in collaboration with Derry Brabbs whose photographs and maps accompany the text. The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

In den WarenkorbPaperback. Zustand: Very Good. In 1931 A. Wainwright and three companions walked through the Lake District on a route planned that every lake, every valley and every mountain would be seen, if not actually visited. Wainwright's map of the walk and list of highlights survived and has been made available by one of the members of the walking team. The book is mainly photographic, but is enhanced by A. Wainwright's own illustrations from his "Pictorial Guides" and captions drawn from his texts. This is a major long-distance walk which Wainwright and his companions completed in six days over the Whitsun holiday of 1931. However, the walk can also be done in sections if preferred. Ed Geldard also took the photographs for "Wainwright in the Limestone Dales". The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.
