Two b/w illustrations by Louis Wain (cats) - one entitled "The Doctor" and the other is double-spread, entitled "The Cats' Excursion". Chromolithograph plates plus b/w and tinted text illustrations. Somewhat worn copy of this beautifully produced book with chromolithogaphs of animals, printed in Bavaria. Pictorial boards with red cloth spine, unpaginated, about 64 pages. Sixteen pages printed in color, many illustrations in black and white. Covers worn at the edges with the spine cloth missing, hinges cracked but binding sound with no loosened pages. Several pages have edgewear, mainly short edge, and some finger soil in the margins. There are also several old tape repairs, with repairs on two leaves affecting the actual images (most are in the lower margin) - one of these affects both a color and black and white plate, the other a color plate plus text. . Hard Cover. Fair. 4to - over 9¾" - 12" tall.

Nice chromolithograps, 12.5 x 11", cloth backed glossy color pict boards, unpaginated, extremities lightly worn, spine ends bumped, ffep creased vertically, endpapers unevenly toned, contents toned but full of wonderful, vivid chromolithographs of dogs, cats, rabbits, and barnyard animals, in a toned, edge-worn/torn/lightly chipped, pencil-inscribed but obviously very rare dustjacket! British Museum Catalogue says the publication date was 1902.

Zustand: Poor. This secondhand book as scuffs,marks,foxing and knocks but does not affect the read.
