Small 8vo, pp. [ii], 457, [1] colophon; in contemporary half calf, slightly rubbed. First and apparently only edition: an unusual version of the Psalms, in that it was composed by a practising architect. Alfred Bartholomew (1801-45) had been apprenticed to J.H. Good, who had been in turn the pupil of Sir John Soane. He also wrote several books on architecture, and not long before his death became editor of The Builder. This book was praised by bishops, but failed to find favour in parish churches, its intended audience. Only three copies located by WorldCat outside the UK - at Yale, Newberry and Emory.
