Cloth. Zustand: Very Good. None (illustrator). A collection of the poems of Alexander Pope, scarce in its entirety. Illustrated with engraved frontispieces and title page to each volume (collated, complete). With a memoir of the author, notes, and critical notices of each poem, from G. Croly. George Croly (August 17, 1780 November 24, 1860) was an Irish poet, novelist, historian, and divine. He wrote poems, dramas, satires, novels, history, and theological works, and attained some measure of success in all. Complete in four volumes. In half-calf bindings. Externally, smart, though rubbed, with some marks. Internally, generally firmly bound, although frontispiece of volume I detached due to strained joint. News articles tipped onto pastedowns. Pages are bright, and generally clean, though with some instances of foxing. Copperplate ink inscription to the verso of the final page of volume IV. Very Good. book.
