Pour la venger, le jeune garçon, rejoint les barbudos de Fidel Castro et de Che Guevara arrivés en décembre 1956 pour libérer Cuba de la tyrannie de Batista. Sous le nom de guerre de Benigno, il participe comme mitrailleur à la marche sur la Havane et sera de tous les combats. Capitaine à dix-neuf ans, il dirige l'entraînement des révolutionnaires latino-américains et africains. Il suit, au Congo puis en Bolivie, un Che qu'il fait revivre ici dans le quotidien de la guerilla. Puis tout bascule : le Che est assassiné le 9 octobre 1967. Benigno, traqué par l'armée bolivienne, parvient à rallier Cuba. Devenu directeur des Ecoles spéciales, il continue les missions internationales : Bolivie, Angola, Pérou. Proche des premiers cercles du pouvoir, Benigno vit de l'intérieur l'évolution du régime, mais Cuba n'est plus " son " Cuba. Comme le Che, il part. Il vient en France et, au nom du légendaire Guerillero heroïco, il témoigne désormais sans relâche, de leur idéal partagé de justice et d'humanité. Ce livre est comme un dernier combat, un adieu aux armes, où Benigno nous dit, qu'aujourd'hui, " seuls les mots doivent rester armés. Book.
