(1st ed. 1974). 709 pp. Binding minimally rubbed, paper somewhat browned, otherwise a good and very clean copy. - From the introduction tothe second edition(automatically translated): This is the second edition of the history of the city of Sana'a, which we are issuing seven years after its first edition, which we edited with our study colleague, Professor Abdul Jabbar Zakar, and which was introduced by my friend and professor, Dr. Nabeeh Al-Aqel, Dean of the Faculty of Arts at Damascus University. There are important reasons that motivated us to publish this edition. First: What we were able to find of handwritten copies of the book other than the one we relied on in its investigation, after obtaining them during the investigation work was impossible, so we came across two copies, one of which is the British Museum copy. The second: Ali Amiri's copy in Istanbul. It was necessary to compare what we had accomplished in investigation with what we had come across from the copies, so we did that, and during the comparison we did not find any significant matters, except for some of the errors that confused us in reading from the copyists of the copies relied upon in our first investigation, so these two copies guided us to uncover what was confused and correct it. Second: After our first publication of the book, we learned that there was an appendix to it made by Ibn Fadil al-Arshani, who died in the year 626 AH = 1226 AD. I spared no effort in searching for it until I found it. It was small and brief, so I set out to investigate it and completed it and made it an appendix to the original book in this new edition to complete the benefit. Third: What we noticed of the speed with which the first edition sold out, and there is no doubt that this is due to the importance of the book as an important source of Yemeni history, so it was necessary to republish it in a second edition in which we tried to fully benefit from it and provide it to readers and researchers, and perhaps in doing so we will contribute a modest contribution to serving the heritage and history of our nation. Fourth: During the first edition, many typographical errors occurred, and we missed things during the investigation, so we counted the errors, corrected them, and tracked down what was missed and recovered it, and we recorded all of that in the appendix to the previous edition, so it was necessary to issue an edition free of typos and omissions, and this is what we will find in this edition, God willing. God alone is the protector from error and mistake, and from Him one can derive help and good guidance.
