Hardcover. Zustand: New. Bengal in the 1940s. Having overcome the famine and the revolt of the sharecroppers, Bengal's peasants are uniting. Work is scarce and wages are low. There is barely any food to be had. The proposal for the formation of Pakistan, the elections of 1946, and communal riots are rewriting the contours of history furiously. Amidst all this, in an unnamed village, a familiar corporeal spirit plunges into knee-deep mud. This is Tamiz's father, the man in possession of Khwabnama. At first glance, Khwabnama is the tale of a harmless young farmhand who becomes a sharecropper and dreams of a future that has everything to do with the land that he cultivates and the soil that he tills. The fabric of his dreams, though, have as much to do with the history of the land as its future, and as much to do with memories as with hope. In this magnum opus, which documents the Tebhaga movement, wherein peasants demanded two-thirds of the harvest they produced on the land owned by zamindars, Akhtaruzzaman Elias has created an extraordinary tale of magical realism, blending memory with reality, legend with history and the struggle of marginalized people with the stories of their ancestors.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -The book accumulates some of my research publications in diverse fields like Electronics, Algorithm, Musical Rhythms, Control and Robotics. The publications are based on various projects which I have experimented during my last five years of study. Some of the projects were acted by my own cogitation and others are from various projects and assignments. The Bangla Clock was my first project which was designed and experimented successfully. The project was amazing and published in ICCIT 2005. Mathematical and Geometrical Analysis of Musical Rhythms was done as my BSc. thesis and published in ICICT 2007. After that I extended the work and proposed a novel classification system based on Multi-Polygonal model and published in ICCCE 2008 and ICCDA 2009. Unicode Searching Algorithm was developed by my own interest where a multilevel binary tree was designed. The other works including Mobile Robot, Wall Climbing Robot, control of Flexible Manipulator and Inverted Pendulum, Power Steering System were experimented as assignments during my course work in Masters. The review paper on Humanoid Systems was published in IJRA 2010 which was a part of my MSc. thesis work.Books on Demand GmbH, Überseering 33, 22297 Hamburg 96 pp. Englisch.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware -This book offers a comprehensive analysis of the debates on international capital flows, and presents a new evidence-based answer to the long-standing question of why capital doesn¿t tend to flow from rich to poor countries as predicted by standard neoclassical theory ¿ a puzzle known as the Lucas paradox. Further, the book reviews alternative approaches to conventional estimates of the marginal product of capital (MPK) and considers whether these estimates actually help us understand observed international capital flows.A rigorous quantitative approach is subsequently used to provide clear empirical evidence on the determinants of capital flows across borders. The findings of this empirical analysis suggest that generous economic policies on capital account convertibility are more influential than differences in institutional quality in terms of determining international capital flows. In closing, the relative importance of various types of political risk (e.g. expropriationand corruption) is examined. After determining that expropriation risk has one of the greatest effects on foreign direct investment (FDI), the book proposes an appealingly intuitive explanation for the lack of FDI flows to many capital-scarce developing countries.Springer Verlag GmbH, Tiergartenstr. 17, 69121 Heidelberg 220 pp. Englisch.
