The whole of civilization is in a holocaust of pandemic, claiming more than millions infected and close to 0.7 million have been succumbed to death. Out of some few measures, hand washing with sanitizer has been recommended as a preventive hygienic practice. Health hygienic and nutrition of human being are organically dovetailed to each other; no one is achievable without considering the other. Hospitalization of a person in most cases is the failure story out of no or wrong hygiene and health practices. No one ever thought that a simple hand wash can even a savior to civilization. The book here attempts to highlight the perception and practices of health and hygienic practice followed by school going girls as well as school going children of both genders. The study is small but the implication is big.

Indian farming has been evolving mostly with an intrinsic and systemic contradiction; when productivity increases, income plunges; and, when both income and productivity improve simultaneously, livelihood may decline. This is mainly due to the non-integration amongst and between the production, market and livelihood. Global observers are shocked to see that with a buffer stock of 75 million tons of food grain, how does a nation reeling with hunger so harshly and which is reflected in our melancholic position on the ladder of global hunger index. The present book, based on the thesis work, carried out by Mr Debraj Roy in 2020 in a location of West Bengal under the guidance of Prof. S K Acharya of BCKV to empirically test the compliances and contradictions of these apparently conflicting issues in a way to derive a grassroot policy for the resilient strategy. A score of multivariate statistical techniques has been applied to extract the embedded factuality out of a plethora of hard evidences.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. Communication is the process that transfers and receives messages, shares and creates opinions; while entrepreneurial communication incubates mentors and propagates enterprises. The way a teacher communicates to the students is equally important the way an investors talks to the customers, because, in a sense, both are entrepreneurs and behaves through entrepreneurial communication. This is immensely important for the growth and sustainability in agriculture or in any production process wherein the prime interaction reigns between source and receiver. There has been need to extract the marker variables impacting on and characterizing the entrepreneurial communication including information seeking as well as sharing behavior of farmers in different operating social ecologies. The social ecology of entrepreneurial communication is comprising of farm production process, technology back up, input and credit delivery mechanism, operating supply chain, market segmentation, decision support system and policy formulation for both micro and macro sociological realities. I think, the book is of a worth creation to redefine the value and importance of entrepreneurial communication, an integral part of behavioral psyche and response mechanism to a score of stimuli.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. Contents: 1. Introduction 2. Neo-institutional Revolution and Farmer Producer Organization (FPO) 3. Citations on FPO and Entrepreneurial Communication 4. Social Ecology and FPO 5. Methods and Approaches for FPO Interpretation 6. A Case Study on "Entrepreneurial Behaviour of Farmers in Farmer Producer Organizations (FPO)" Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) have emerged as a significant force in the business landscape of Odisha and India as a whole, offering a novel approach to development. For the first time since independence, farmers are establishing their own companies using their own produce, and with proper business processes and communication, they are equipped to build and manage their own business ecosystem and enterprise based on their farm production. FPOs not only offer opportunities for economic empowerment of farmers and farm women, but also have societal, cultural, and economic impacts. The FPO movement is gaining momentum, and there is a need for a reliable document that provides both motivational and methodological support based on empirical evidence. Other crucial aspects for FPOs include market analysis, customer behavior studies, market networking, supply chain management, branding, and value addition to make the agribusiness ecosystem thrive. Additionally, a thorough analysis of business leadership is essential for entrepreneurial mobilization and community participation. FPOs have the potential to liberate 125 million holdings, including small and marginal farmers, from poverty and uncertainty. The book, based on field research, presents an empirical model that can be utilized by administrators, scholars, policy makers, faculty members, KVK scientists across disciplines and professions.

Appendix. Index. History of human civilization initiated with the struggle against hunger, it flourishes with the fight against poverty and turns oblivious with absence of voices against these two bio-social mortality. If hunger is a pain, poverty is an agony, then, keeping silent against these carcinoma of civilization is no doubt a crime. Is it that poor people are put to an insurmountable silence by the ruthless hegemonies of political economy, or, they are silent, that is why they remain poor. Silence has been the lethal enzyme in transforming poverty into hunger, and, offers to a socio-chemical bond, poverty-hunger-silence; the bond that remains non-breakable as on date. Economists lament for poverty, nutritionists regret hunger, but the issues of silence and its cohesion to both hunger and poverty has seldom been scholastically delved into or dealt with. We can hope, a desperation of wishful thinking as it may be, shall drench the researchers who think and feel to explore a missing link between hunger and poverty, the silence or the social anemia of voices.

Limitation of the Study. Bibliography Index. Pulse is possibly the only crop on this planet that can cater to all the three primers of agricultural livelihoods, economy-ecology-technology, on a single go. It adds nitrogen to soil, protein to human body and income to wallet of farmers, both small and marginal, and people at large. To earn self reliance in pulse production, an array of initiatives has been triggered up to ensure both food and income security for the millions of rural people in India. The book offers deep insights to delve into and examine the technology socialization process of pulse crops and their a marketability level in terms of marketable surplus generated by the growers after meeting their household needs. A count of 150 pulse growing farmers have been interrogated and interacted with to estimate and interpret the cause, direction and level of socialization of pulse crop at the grass root reality, and thus, hard evidences, generated therewith from a new alluvial agro-ecological setting of India, have been extrapolated to a reference book for scholars and academia in agriculture and ecology across the planet.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. UN declaration on sustainable goals on 2015, 17 by count, to be achieved by 2030, certainly focuses on ensuring well-being of people, especially of rural populace reeling under faster marginalization process. That is why and how the issues of ensuring happiness has earned that much of importance. The happiness for deprived class is attainable by ensuring a dedicated income, health and hygiene, minimal level of learning and social security. Happiness is the most adored goal for everyone on this planet and unquestionably every farmer in India. Farmers are wrongly portrayed as a human machine for producing food against some wages or income. Both wages and income are so uncertain for a small and marginal farmer, a happy return remains illusory and a faraway dream per se. The main problem of Indian farming is that they are under increasing stress for every consecutive month or year they have to survive with a market which is uncertain and income which fragile and wage which goes undulating. Globally on happiness-index India's position is just close to the lowest one. In this book, the conceptual heterodoxy of happiness has been well examined. Both the physical and mental well-being of the farmers are extremely important for augmenting and sustaining our food security and economic growth. The book creation has been extremely fascinating and voyaging to explore the cause and consequences of unhappiness of farmers, the most neglected humanity, who are supposed to save us from hunger and famine. Huge no of farmers' respondents, perhaps for the first time in agricultural extension in India, to examine how happy they are! The book has got a splendid combination of mind-mathematics-motivation as reflected through a plethora of hard evidences.

Recommendation, limitation and future scope of study. The global agriculture industry is currently facing serious threats, which have arisen from the promotion of unsustainable farming practices over an extended period, resulting in significant disruptions to ecological systems and their related functions. The complexity of this problem is further compounded by the unpredictable pace of global warming and climate change. By 2050, India is projected to support a massive population of 1.6 billion people with limited land resources and increasingly unpredictable weather patterns. Approximately 68% of India's land mass is experiencing severe depletion of organic carbon, which has had a detrimental impact on crop productivity. Water availability for agricultural purposes is also rapidly decreasing. In the 1950s, the per capita availability of water was 500 cubic meters per year, but it has since declined to just 1,700 cubic meters per capita per year. Intensive farming practices are causing the erosion of 10-15 tons of topsoil per hectare of crop land in India. In light of these bleak facts, it is imperative that we adopt conservation agriculture to address these issues from both an ecological and economic perspective. The book provides a comprehensive analysis of the trend of conservation agriculture and its evolving perception among farmers in two distinct agro-climatic zones of Bengal, namely the terai and the new alluvial zones. It has drawn upon well-structured research on conservation agriculture and its implementation and responsibilities as perceived by practicing farmers in these regions. It is my expectation and belief that this book will appeal to a global audience, including scholars, faculty members and policymakers.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. Any disruption or perturbation in ecological system can generate serious consequences and network of ripples for resilience and livelihoods as evidenced by the challenges confronting Indian agriculture by fact and figure. Approximately, 67 per cent of India's cultivable land is suffering from organic carbon status, and the indiscriminate depletion of groundwater for supporting input intensive modern agriculture. This has led to a severe water crisis. Every five seconds, an area the size of a football field is lost due to soil erosion. An approximate amount of 15 tons top soil has been eroded of per hectare land, per year in Indian agriculture. This alarming rate of soil loss is contributing to the loss of biodiversity including flora and fauna, steady decline of organic carbon, erosion of micronutrients and fall of crop productivity. The Green Revolution overemphasized on promoting high-yielding varieties, which have led to the displacement of valuable landraces, resulting in gene myopia and gene erosion. This has had a catastrophic impact on our food production system. While experts are aware of this threat, most farmers are not, as reflected in this book while studying farmers' perceptions of ecological resilience and its contribution to agriculture. India. The book presents a realistic view of the ground truth and offers an interesting interpretation of the rhetoric surrounding ecological resilience in India.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. When the global research is mostly hovering around the semiconductor chips, the new trend is solution research. It is elegantly true for methodological solution for new age social science researches, which is apparently complex, multidimensional, yet enthralling. We are now blending physics and mathematics to social science researches to make it more concrete, predictable, amenable to social ecology and adaptable to change kinetics. The book has covered almost all classical and modern mathematical and statistical solutions to research and prediction. Perhaps this is the solitary book that illustriously compounded an array of linear and non-linear analytical tools and techniques by incorporating ANN, FCM, CCA, AHP and very essentially grounded theory, Meta analysis, game theory and participatory data analyses. I hope and believe, the book is going to add ripples and resurrection in the young minds and creativities for making research the more of an excitement and, less of monotony and rigmarole for the global audience.

The People s Linguistic Survey of India provides an overview of the extant and dying languages of India, as perceived by their speakers. It is the culmination of a nation-wide survey of languages, documented by linguists, writers, social activists and, most importantly, members of different speech communities. The work chronicles the evolution of these languages until 2011, and incorporates their socio-political and cultural dimensions. Critically, it encapsulates the world view of the speakers of the languages. The state of West Bengal is unique in that the languages spoken in the state belong to four different language families Austroasiatic, Dravidian, Indo-European and Tibeto-Burman. The geographical location of the state and its contiguity with other states and countries contributes to the wide variety and richness of languages in the state. The Languages of West Bengal documents not only the five Scheduled languages spoken in the state (Bangla, Bodo, Santhali, Nepali and Urdu) but also 23 Non-Scheduled languages spoken there. This volume also includes a chapter on nine endangered languages of north Bengal.

In Indian agriculture, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) have emerged as a new institutional arrangement for farmers, extending beyond the scale of individual holdings. The primary challenge in promoting such transformation and the metamorphosis of the farming community has been the lack of effective, planned, and sustained communication interventions. Entrepreneurial communication is essential for the survival and growth of any business ecosystem. This book examines the interplay between communication and entrepreneurship, which serves as the driving force behind the success of FPOs operating in Indian agriculture. Even small farmers today are eager to convert their products into marketable brands, targeting specific customers with tailored offerings of choice, preference, and utility. This book is expected to cater to a global audience that has been closely observing the significant changes in Agricultural Entrepreneurship and the reshaping of livelihoods for Indian farmers.
