In den WarenkorbLeather. Zustand: Very Good. Not Stated (illustrator). The original script from the 1955 stage adaptation of 'Water Gipsies', a novel by A.P. Herbert, handsomely bound and with the initials of the director, Charles Hickman', to the front board. The original script from the 1955 stage adaptation ofWater Gipsies(1930), noted novel by A.P. Herbert. The story of a London artist who spends time with two bohemian sisters on a barge on the Thames. This was the script for a musical play based on the book, and included music by English composer Vivian Ellis, most well-known for the song 'Spread a Little Happiness' and the theme 'Coronation Scot'.This copy is handsomely bound in full green calf and contains the initials 'C.H.' in gilt to the bottom right corner of the front board, the initials of director Charles Hickman. Hickman is known for directing many plays in London throughout the 1950s, includingThe Merry Widow (1958),Theatre Night (1957) andWater Gipsies(1955).A truly unique piece of memorabilia from this entertaining 1950s play. Handsomely bound in full green calf, with the gilt initials 'C.H.' to the rear of the front board. Externally, smart, with some light darkening to the spine and light rubbing to the joints and extremities. Internally, firmly bound. The odd spot to the pages and fore-edge, which are otherwise bright and clean throughout. Very Good. book.
