In the original full cloth binding. Externally, worn with rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. Splits in the cloth at the head and tail of the spine, the joints, and board tips. Joints starting. Fading to the spine with marks to the boards. Front hinge starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot or handling mark. The odd pencil mark. The Midland Railway was the third largest railway undertaking in the British Isles, established 1844. In a red cloth binding. Externally, sound with heavy rubbing and staining to boards. Spine browned with splitting to the cloth at the head. Both hinges tender. Internally, generally firmly bound although strained in places, with map at page 560 loosening. Pages bright and generally clean with age toning to all page edges and occasional light spotting. Ink signature to title page. Good. book.
