Being a full and Dispassionate Examen of the Readings and Interpretations of the Several Editors'.With an engraved frontispiece and title page to each of the twelve Tegg volumes, alongside a further twenty-seven engraved plates across the twelve volumes. Collated, complete.In his two volumes, Andrew Becket offers a critical study of Shakespeare"s language, attempting to defend and clarify the original meanings of Shakespeare"s words and phrases. He argues against perceived textual corruption by editors and critics of Shakespeare"s time.While each back strip tail bears the date 1815 in gilt, the Tegg set was published between 1812 and 1816.With the armorial bookplate of Henry Thomas Dunster to each front pastedown.
