Unbound. Zustand: Good. None (illustrator). First edition. Number VI, Volume III from John Caesar Wilkes's very scarce mid eighteenth century political periodical. 'The Political Controversy: or Weekly Magazine of Ministerial and Anti-Ministerial Essays' was a shortly-lived political periodical which ran from 1761 to 1762, and was published under the pseudonym 'John Caesar Wilkes', the true identity of whom has never been revealed.Present here is a single weekly number, being Volume III, Number VI, February 21, 1763.This periodical ran during a period of political tension, when various journalist and public figures argued over the peace terms to conclude the Seven Years War, and over William Pitt's displacement from office. Wilkes's periodical is fascinating in drawing together arguments from both sides of these debates. Unbound. Light handling marks throughout. Internally, firmly bound. Small closed tear to fore edge of second leaf, with light edge wear to leaf perimeters. Pages clean and bright. Good. book.
